Fukuoka Orange Partners
Fukuoka Orange Partners is a consortium composed of an all-Fukuoka collaboration of industry, academia, public and private partners working to create an environment where people with dementia can play an active role. It includes individuals with dementia, their families, corporations, organizations, healthcare and social care providers, and municipality representatives. They are all equal partners that voluntarily “learn”, “think”, “collaborate” and “act” on dementia. The consortium explores possibilities to enable living to the full with dignity even with dementia, and to translate these ideas into practical efforts.
To enable people with dementia to live their lives with purpose and hope even after they have dementia, we encourage people with dementia to express their opinions and ideas to companies, and to create opportunities for people with dementia to participate in the community and play an active part in it.
We also support the opportunities for people with dementia to work and be active in the community. We support to fulfill their desire to work even after they have dementia.
Dementia cafe
We can assist you in setting up a dementia cafe and keeping it running. Please feel free to contact us for more information.
1. Lectures for future cafe founders
We offer a start-up course for people who want to start a dementia cafe or who want to start a cafe but are not sure what to do. We will also introduce you to cafes that are already in operation and help coordinate visits.
You can hold a traial cafe at the Center.
2. Social meeting for cafe operators
We hold a social meeting with people who run dementia cafes. Let’s exchange information and share your issues, and solve them together instead of worrying alone.
Peer support activities
The word “peer” means companion or equal. A “peer supporter”” is a person with dementia who listens to other people with dementia and becomes a sounding board for them based on their own experiences.
It is easy to talk with peers who have had the same experience, and through the connection, you can share your thoughts and feelings. If you would like to talk to a peer supporter or would like to act as a peer supporter yourself, please contact us.
Humanitude® Course
Even with a dementia diagnosis, a person can continue to live with confidence and peace of mind if those around them provide thoughtful and effective support. The key to this support is ongoing communication that helps the person feel, “You matter to us.”
